Halcyon Retreat is set in tropical gardens and surrounded with planted native shrubs and trees that attract numerous species of birds. It’s a birdwatchers paradise and we often have birders stay at the Retreat.
It’s common to see wallabies (small Kangaroos) grazing on our grassy glades between the tall stands of magnificent old forest trees and also on our lawns.
Around the accommodation we have established a variety of interesting native plants creating different forms, texture and colour to our gardens and a cool relaxing environment.
Down by our pond, there is an opportunity to picnic away from formal structures. Speaking of which, you will also notice our large array of ground mounted solar panels. Although we are connected to the grid, we generate all our own electricity and actually supply the excess to the grid.
