Halcyon Retreat is set in tropical gardens and surrounded with planted native shrubs and trees that attract numerous species of birds. It’s a birdwatchers paradise and we often have birders stay at the Retreat.
From the hinterland to the sea, Coffs Coast abounds with brilliant scenery and full of activities to enjoy. Halcyon Retreat at Woolgoolga is centrally located along the Solitary Islands Marine Park shoreline and adjacent to the Sherwood Nature Reserve in the hills above.

Within the grounds of Halcyon Retreat enjoy our resident wallabies, bower birds, ducks, hawks, whip birds, kookaburras and parrots of every variety.
Just a few minutes from Halcyon Retreat a selection of cafés and fine dining makes the local area a haven for the gourmet connoisseur. With the area’s rich cultural background you can find a range of cuisines.
Woolgoolga Headlands offer one of the best ocean lookouts in NSW. Humpback Whales are regularly seen on their annual migration between June and November and Dolphins are frequently sighted playing in the waves on Woolgoolga Beaches. It is truly a magical spot to take in nature at its best.
A leisurely and scenic 15 minute walk west along Woolgoolga Creek Road from Halcyon Retreat is Sherwood Nature Reserve and Woolgoolga Creek Picnic Area. Beyond the picnic area an easy walking track enables visitors to make the 1.75km stroll to the waterfall and enjoy the magnificent rainforest habitat.
The Solitary Islands Marine Park is the first marine park established in NSW. It stretches over 75 km from Mutton Bird Island at Coffs Harbour to the Sandon River in the north and includes the inshore and offshore islands seen from Woolgoolga Headland.
